"The One I Lost" Poem

Sunshine, daises 

all these things

cannot compare to you

I know you are in my heart 

But then I start to fall apart

I love your pretty face

your kind warm smile

and all the freckles across your nose

But then I start to wonder

What did I lose?

I lost your sense of humor

and all your sensitivity

and your eyes that sparkle like the stars

What can I do?

I can cry until you come

I will find where you are hiding

I may say, “I lost everything...”

You are somewhere far away

I will set on foot on the long, twisted path

But I will not forget you

That would be a sin.
