There was a time when you held me in your arms

There was a time when you gently wiped the tears off my cheeks

There was a time when you kissed me good-night

There was a time when you held me close to cease my fear

There was a time when the clocks lurched forward

There was a time when we danced together in the living room

There was a time when I cheerfully hugged you 

There was a time when I comforted you

Now the time has come for me to go my own way

Now the time has come for me to fly away

Now the time has come for me to kiss you good-bye

Now the time has come when you can no longer hold me in your arms

I miss those times most dearly

But know that no matter what,

I will always be your little girl.
