Chapter 4
The next morning, Destiny rose happily, and walked down to the Great Hall for breakfast with Alaina. When the owl post came, they bartered several Knuts for the Daily Prophet. “I wonder what else the Daily Prophet will upbraid the Ministry for again,” Alaina wondered aloud.
Just as they finished their porridge, Professor McGonagall came around with schedules. “We have Herbology first with the Hufflepuffs,” Destiny stated.
“Greenhouse One, chaps!” called Professor Sprout, the Herbology teacher.
Destiny was fascinated by the Mandrakes; according to Hermione, when the root is dug up, it screams and kills all who hear it when it is full-grown.
When they had lunch, the six girls sat together. Laurie was simply enthusiastic. “This place is amazing! Its academics are so much more complex than Muggle schools!” Everyone was tempted to laugh, but as she was their friend, they just smiled.
“Trust me, the O.W.L.s are simply horrific. My aunt used to be a student here, and she was absolutely stressed,” said Destiny. “I am not looking forward to fifth year.”

Destiny sat next to the window, watching the green hills disintegrate into neat and tidy houses stacked on top of each other. She would give anything to stay at Hogwarts. She enjoyed her classes, friends, and teachers. However, she was glad to be back with her mom, who had become even more depressed because Destiny was not there.
Destiny, Jean, Alaina, Annabella, Laurie, and Danielle gave a pledge to each other. Laurie, who was the best at hand-writing, wrote it on a slip of parchment. I believe it went something like this, if my memory is correct:
A friend is someone you can be alone with and have nothing to do, and not be able to think of anything to say, and be comfortable in the silence.
The friendship between us I will not compare to a chain; for that rains must rust, or the falling tree might break.
Without humor, life is nothing; Without courage, life is hard; Without love, life is hopeless; without friends, life is impossible.
Though miles may lie between us, we are never far apart, for friendship doesn’t count miles; its measured by the heart.
All six of them signed it. They were glad to know that they would see each other on September first. And they joined hands, and walked bravely in the pathway to the Muggle world.
